For a little while I worked doing software for the oil and gas industry. I didn’t get to see much out in the field (other than the oil sands when I was a summer student for Shell), but some of that stuff is pretty mind blowing - like the pressures coming out of those wells.

I spent about 3 years as a frac engineer, this shit fascinates me. After a while you become complacent and forget about 13000 PSI being on the line.

Don’t forget the Red Adaire series from the 70s... and the John Wayne docudrama Hellfighters if extinguishing oil fires are your thing. I was mezmorized as a kid.
